917 – Doodle – Coneworm

I was away this weekend with little chance to draw, so I experimented with something new.
Scan of Derwent Graphik pigment liners, copic markers, I left the errors in.

There isn’t really a “model” here, I just scribble all over the page, then once I have a massive tangled scrawl of pencil marks, I ink parts that I like the look of until I end up with… this?
You could argue that nothing in an image like this is an “error”, but there’s a few parts I’m not completely happy with: For example there’s a large purple triangle just to the left of the worm face, it’s one of the largest blocks in the image, and you can see splotchy textures where I’ve been sloppy with my marker shading. (Not surprising, I have -zero- experience with copic markers.)
If I were cleaning this image up to make it look as “nice” as possible, I’d smooth stuff like that out – or if you look closely you’ll se little white specks and dots in places where my shading or inking isn’t fully complete. There are some small areas where my shading has escaped its lines for a tiny patch as well. If I were “fixing this up” I’d go into it with a zoom tool and fill in those small errors to make it look more polished.
okay, so I’m not much of an artist, well of the visual variety anyway, but when you say you left the errors in… even if you circled a point with an arrow to it, and marked it as ‘here, here is my shame’, I’d just tell you it’s a beautiful collage. …( was something off model? :p )
