Bit of a tangent, but I just spent a solid couple of minutes staring at my computer screen pondering something.
“Shipping” is derived from “relationship”, but it’s also a metaphor for the action, hence terms like “sinking a ship”, “ship to ship combat”, and “face that launched a thousand ships”. But what the heck does piracy look like as an extension of that metaphor? I guess it would be a rival ship… that comes along and destroys the original… and then makes off with the “cargo”, which I guess would be one or more of the original characters or maybe just the themes/connections/personality traits from the original relationship?
