So, in the end, the OotS kickstarter drive raised $1,254,120 in a month – providing an excellent example that distributing your content on the internet for free, and crowdsourcing funding from your fans is a totally viable business model.
I wouldn’t say that this is the only example, but the sheer scale of this funding drive is likely to inspire other projects to attempt to run via this model. Personally I just find it astounding what you can accomplish via the internet…
