For those who follow me closely, you’ll know that the “digital artwork” is a rare beast indeed around these parts.

It’s not that I don’t have the tools. I have an intuous 4 and adobe CS3. It’s not that I don’t have the talent, I’ve been very pleased with nearly all of the digital work I’ve done.

It’s a matter of time. I don’t really know what I’m doing with these tools, and I’ve had almost no practice. Pretty much every stage of the digital process I have to work out as I go along, every time I draw something. Adobe’s software is non-intuitive, and has a habit of automatically doing things I don’t want by default. The help files are terrible.

All in all, it takes me about ten times as long to draw something on the computer as it does by hand.

I guess if I actually sat down once a week and worked on it, I’d get a feel for the tools and software, and be able to produce awesome stuff more regularly, but right now, that’s not really an option.

I plan to do a bunch of digital work for SS-HE-10, and that process will be starting soon. We’ll e how it goes.
